A home that transforms lives — providing shelter, education, and values to young boys at risk. Since inauguration, the Ashram has been a sanctuary of hope, rooted in the vision of Arya Samaj’s commitment to social empowerment.
Historical Roots
The Arya Baal Ashram fulfills aspirations first deliberated at the 10th Anniversary Celebrations of the Arya Pratinidhi Sabha (Dec 30, 1927 – Jan 1, 1928) at Gurukul, Saweni — to establish homes for orphans and socially vulnerable children. Arya Samaj in Fiji was established on 25 December 1904 at Samabula, and the Sabha registered in 1918. The Centenary celebrations (2004) sparked new initiatives: Vedic Training Centre (2002), The University of Fiji (2005), and finally Arya Baal Ashram (2006).
Commencement & Growth
The Ashram project began in 2003, facilities ready by 2005. Operations started on 28 January 2006 with 3 young boys. By the official dedication (10 September 2006) by Minister Hon. George Shiu Raj, enrollment had grown to 12 youngsters. Located within DAV Girls College & Arya Samaj Primary compound, Lot 2, Kula Street, Samabula — inside the Vedic Training Centre building. Today it nurtures school-aged boys with capacity for 20.
Services & Holistic Care
Primary & secondary schooling (currently 4 at Arya Samaj Primary, 1 at DAV College, Nabua) with scope for vocational/tertiary future.
Hindi, music, yoga, moral values (Naitik Shiksha), gardening, housekeeping, cooking.
Vegetarian lifestyle, full catering, medical support, transport — all costs covered by Sabha through public generosity.
Capacity 20 boys in a caring, family-like environment within Samabula compound.
